Dog 51 is a futuristic thriller directed by Cédric Jimenez and based on the novel by Laurent Gaudé, blending detective fiction, dystopian sci-fi, and a sharp critique of a technology-driven society. Set in Paris in 2045, the story unfolds in a city divided into three zones according to social status. The city’s security is controlled by ALMA, an artificial intelligence capable of predicting crimes and monitoring human behaviour. After the murder of the system’s creator, two police officers from very different social backgrounds — Salia and Zem — are assigned to the case. As the investigation unfolds, they begin to uncover the manipulation, control, and loss of human freedom hidden beneath the illusion of a perfectly ordered society. The film tackles highly relevant contemporary themes such as digital surveillance, social segregation, and dependence on artificial intelligence.

The film had its world premiere at the 82nd Venice IFF and received two César 2026 nominations for production design and visual effects.
